More 53%-ers from all around the country

I was a NYC EMT.

I was there when it all went down 10 years ago.

When my service was done, I moved to Arizona to pursue a dream on my own.

I met my wife.

I started a business.

I bought my first home and new car.

Every quarter I write a check to cover my taxes; sometimes it’s a big check, sometimes it’s a small check, but it’s mine, and it represents what I earn, not what is given to me.

I have never needed government assistance.

I have never taken a social handout.

Some months are good, others are terrible.  Some nights I sleep well, others not so much.

These are my choices, and I fight for them everyday, good or bad, right or wrong. 

Corporate greed sucks and I agree that politicians are all shysters.  But you won’t see me sitting in a park participating in a drum circle – I have to much work to do, and I have people who rely on me.

I am the 53% - Are You

The "Occupy Wall Street" protest has sparked a movement called "I am the 53%".

If you are not familiar with this movement - it encompasses a majority of American taxpayers as it refers to the 53% that pay all of the bills in this country.

We are the 53%!

Here's my story -


I am one of nine children.
Growing up, I delivered newspapers, shined shoes, carried golf bags, cut lawns, painted houses, worked on traveling carnivals, in restaurants and grocery stores…
I worked while I was in college and every single summer during college.
In virtually every year of my post-college life, I have had a full-time work and a part-time job.
I don’t have a union pension. My life is my responsibility, and not that of the government.
